Lady, What's in that Bag?!

When I was little I used to LOVE going through my mom's, aunt's, grandmother's, purses! It's called being a snoop. You know we've all been there, being little sitting in church bored out of our minds! So what did you do? Snoop through whom ever purse you could find! That's for sure what I did. Now a days I have refrained from the purse snooping...Well... at least not in church sacrament anymore SOOoOoooOoo as I was cleaning out my purse this weekend it just hit me *ZAP* like a lightning bolt that you my dear faithful readers must be DIEING to know what's in Tierra's infamous purse. Well, I tell ya dear readers your wait is over. That's right, I'm opening it up and am letting you see it all. In dept and Personal. Consider this MTV Cribs, Purse Style.

It's WONNNDEErrrrFFUUULLL Ladies! It's Breathe Citrus Mint! Thank You ALEXA!!!! The tall one in the back is the always fave. Mango coconut.

The basic makeup bag. That is if I'm lucky to remember to put my powder and blush in it...this is all I carry. The basics in make-up ness....Powder, blush, brushes, mascara, eye liner, lip glosses & lipstick, perfume roller, & my favorite prized compact that Mary gave me for my 18th birthday.

"The inside of Women's purses, or handbags as the English like to call them, is a place not for the faint hearted. It's a place of great wonderment and intrigue. "
-Scott Abbott

At the end of our tour, last but not least...Not at all...the ever stunning sunglasses and my best, best friend..the IPOD. Need I say more?

Prayers for Catie

Please keep a very special person in your prayers this weekend. My family and I just received some very devastating news. The Dunn family is a very special family to mine. To me personally President Dunn, the father, baptised me when I was eight and was my families home teacher for 14 years. His Wife Jackie was my seminary teacher and now my Relief Society president and there's nothing for this family that we wouldn't do or they us and now, more then ever I'm asking for prayers on there be hath. Their oldest daughter Catie who has been battling cancer over the last year and a half just received news that the cancer is back and has spread into her lungs.

Catie's story is one that is every mother and families nightmare. In early 2007 we learned that Catie was pregnant with her third child and we were all excited for the Dunn family. Shortly into her pregnancy they discovered a tumor growing in her left upper arm bone spreading further up. Needing to take action immediately, Catie and her husband were faced with the decision about the pregnancy. To Catie, there was no decision and immediately she carried the baby as far as she could till about 7 months. Then onto surgeries and round the clock chemotherapy. Happily baby Sarah was born very very tiny but progresses everyday and is now beautiful and a little over a year old. Back in November after a hard fought battle of hospital stays and radiation and chemo combined Catie was announced Cancer free. Just about a month or two ago Catie went in for a check up with the news, still all clear. Then, this week after another check up the cancer is back and now tumors are spreading in her lungs.

Let me just say this. Catie has three small children all under the age of six. A husband. A beautiful home and a life they've built together and tonight....my heart is truly heartbroken. What do you say? I know how it feels to be taken back by an unexpected course but not like this. For those on my blog who do know Catie, and your just now hearing of this news, Please keep President Dunn & his family in your thoughts and your prayers. Time is just too precious to blink and miss one second.

A Knight and My Never

Dear Readers,
Tonight I was 100% positive on posting something completely different then what I’m about to share.
I’m sharing something personal. Vulnerable. Now, you may laugh at this if you will. For I know I plan on laughing at this in years to come but tonight, tonight I’m heartbroken.

To share a little bit about me I am a dreamer. A day dreamer. I’m a hopeless romantic. Sometimes over dramatic. Sometimes over sensitive. But, when I was 14 yrs. old I was rescued by what THEN I considered my knight in shining armor. Go ahead and laugh at that but it’s true. At 14 I had my eyes on the stars and wishing at every moment that this knight would be my story book ending.

So first let me take you back. Back to when I had just turned 14 yrs. Old. I can remember this day perfectly. It was Saturday. And the night was going to be my first church dance. Ariel and me had talked for hours the night before on what was to come, giggling and hoping to have a dance with a boy named Israel. “Oh if we could just have one dance” we said was all that was needed to make the night the night of our teenage lives.

So as the night came in and the twinkling Christmas lights were turned on, the music began to play, and I, Tierra Lynne Coleman gathered my courage. I was going to walk right up to the boy named Israel and ask him to dance. Israel was the boy everyone wanted to dance with and I was determined to get my chance. So, with the rally of girlfriends in the corner cheering me on, I took a leap of faith and walked over.
He was surrounded by friends, faces I don’t remember anymore but my eyes were set just in front of him and with every ounce of courage I had gathered I shyly but clearly said the words. “Would you like to Dance with me?” Shaking at every second, to his reply and my embarrassment was a firm “No”.

To be honest, I don’t remember what I was feeling at that moment or said. As I started to make my way back to the girlfriends and their comforting arms ….He happened…this boy whom I had never seen before came right up and grabbed my hand and asked if I would dance…with him. No other thought was given to the boy named Israel and to be honest I don’t think I’ve ever seen him since. I was rescued. Saved.

Right there in the middle of my teenage universe he became my hopeful, wish upon a star, story book ending.

Through the youth years at church we would often see each other and at every event he would always make sure to dance and chat with me. Always with a hug and always, always with a captivating smile. Sure other major crushes would come and go but it always goes back to him.

To that moment. To that hope, that someday, any day he would just see….me.

Now, as the years went by and a mission was completed he would fulfill one more saving. One more rescue in a moment, much more needed then any other in my life. We share something only the other would know the pain for, and the night of my mother’s funeral viewing, I shall never ever forget standing alone beside my mother’s coffin and greeting the huge line of guests, I saw that he was there. He came.

As I shook the hands of so many that night, trying to take myself out of the situation in order to carry on with a reassuring smile on my face that I’d be okay, he knew I was not okay. He knew my pain. He knew because he too had lost his mother when he was sixteen. And once again to the rescue, there he was at the head of the line. Pulling me aside and asking if I remembered about his mother.

It then hit me, I had just joined this unwanted club that he had already belonged to for about 6 yrs. And he knew what I was going through…

He asked if I had needed anything and if he could go and get me anything and then he hugged me as other people were waiting for my attention. As I looked over the long line still awaiting me he leaned in and said, “You can do this, take this slowly. I know what this feels like but just get through the hour, its okay to say the same thing to the next and remember I know that you can do this.” I have never shared that with anyone about our private little conversation he gave me. Nor will I ever forget it.

Now, tonight I found out that my story has another ending with some one else. Someone other then him.

For he just announced his engagement.

And yes, I am heartbroken.

Was this a silly young girl’s crush? In the beginning. Didn’t I realize that it was a major crush set up for let down? Completely. But, again theres always that hope. That wonder of...Could it be? Can it be?

So for the rest of the night I’m playing your typical heartbreak songs. And I leave you with some questions. What is your story and what was your song to get you through the night?

So now you’ve heard my story and no matter what I shall always remember him and the two moments that I will always be so thankful that it was him. For his friendship and his unfailing kindness and for being there at the right moment and the right time.

Golden Globes 2 cents

I must first state that I didnt watch the Golden Globes. Honestly I rarely watch the award shows of anything. But, I ALWAYS look at the fashion for the ladies and find out who won the biggie awards. So the day after the golden globes I had my TV on and heard a small buzz about Leo and Kate. Remember back in the day when Titanic came out and everyone and their mother, cousin, neice, teacher, friend had seen it like a thousand times???? Well, I was the one in 6th grade who hadnt seen it yet and I can remember perfectly well that I was the last one to see it in my entire class. Mother dearest refused to let me see it without her parental guidence. A.K.A Held her hands over her daughters eyes over the famous nude scene. Anywazzzzyyys I remember already being kinda in puppy love with Leo because I had fallen in love with the new version Romeo & Juliet {still LOVE it to this day} Okay, Tierra get to the point -----> I absolutely ADORE Kate Winslet. I don't think there has been a single gown that she has worn on the award shows through the years that I didn't love. She's Simple, timeless, and classic. Very Jackie-O in my book. First, I love the fact that Leo and Kate came together for the Golden Globes. And when I found out that they had reunited and made a new movie together...Inside I squealed with delight. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about when I say there's just certain actors and actresses in our minds that will forever stay together. That they just Click.
To name a few....John Travolta and Kirstie Ally, Julia Roberts & Richard Gear, Doris Day & Rock Hudson, Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan, Leo & Kate! I could gooooo on but theres just certain movies that you watch and you can feel the chemistry between them. They play it out so well you actually believe the story and when that happens....AwwWww it's so bittersweet movie magic.

Favorite Dresses for Golden Globes 2009

Did anyone see the heartfelt acceptance speech Kate gave for the award for Best Actress?
Well, I youtubed it and you must watch it. I insist. Over the years Kate has never won an award and though I have seen neither movies for the awards she won them for, I adore her even more for her gracious and truly humble acceptance. Watch all of this because it's truly very sweet and touching but when you get to the 4:05 time part listen carefully and just try and tell me you didn't get a little tearie eyed at the bid to Leo.

the "Rest of the Story"

Hello Everyone! I know your all just on the edge of your seats awaiting the "REST of the STORY". I really wanted to make it all "Tierra worthy writing style" with my charm but honestly ladies....I just don't feel like it. The truth is for the last two days I have endured trips to the ER with having to have the side of my face poked and handled by needles! Let me tell ya....PAIN FULL! So on a recap, Friday night after work the cyst on my face was HUGE! My friend Amber F. described it looking like a small pregnant baby bump on the side of my face. Me pregnant? Yeah ...right LOL. I, on the other hand described it looking like a goose egg taking up residence near my cute little perky ear. To spare you all the nasty details lets highlight some of the better parts.

A) Cute ER male tech to bandage me up

Some of you might be noticing the highlights are a bit.....short....Haha well yep, it was just that.

They cut it open and let it drain. Then left it open with out any stitches to let it heal better with medicated packing inside the cut. Which will give Tierra a nice little scar to remember this truly lover-ly event. So every 48 hours I have to return to the ER to be seen by the same Doctor for more packing and more pain killer shots. At least as a resort to keep me happy, they give me the same ER male tech whom we're now on great friendly terms with and he stays and watches "House Hunters" and Who wants Clean House" shows with me as he prepares the room for the Doctor. Did I mention he's cute? Oh, and that he's REALLY nice? Who knew? Ladies I knew I was doing this all wrong in the dating department, just go to the ER and there's the cute men. I mean Hello? Remember studly Dr. Carter from the tv show ER?

So, ask me what I look like? Well, the cute male tech keeps apologizing and apologizing every time he has to re bandage me up because he has to pretty much keep my whole right side of my face wrapped up in gauze and tape. But, hey last night, he was even sweet enough to go and get me purple tape. He said he would have gotten pink but they were all out. What a charmer!!!

So, as of right now I'm at home on more pain killers that keep me pretty sleepy. I'm so sorry if I don't make it to your blog and leave a comment but know that I'm thinking of you and the cute ER tech I get to see again tomorrow :)

PS. This Saturday, even though I was bandaged all up and looked like a train wreck, I went and saw Twilight again for the 6th and last time. {tears} I had found out that it would be the last weekend showing and so me, Leah, Evan, and my sweet little nephew all went. Angelus was so cute, I wont say he loved it but he never asked to go home or when it was going to be over. I kepted asking him who he liked best on the way home and he said "DUUHH Tierra...the good vampires" looking at me as if I was stupid. LOL

What do you mean "not really" was he that bad?
Tierra: OooOOoo yeah, it...was BAD!
Well, what in the world happened?
Tierra: It all started with a needle...
A WHAT????
Tierra: Yep, a NEEDLE!
So are you okay?
Tierra: Oh yeah...they call them pain killers!

Please stay tuned for the rest of the story...

Today, Tierra was cold. Tonight, Tierra is cold. This moment, Tierra is VERY COLD! And all day her thoughts have been Sunshine and Summertime. I'm really not one to rush my seasons. Ask and I Answer

Would you like to know the exact date of your death? Why or why not?
Wow! What A “what the freak?” question! I’m going to be honest and say Yes/No. Yes, I would like to know when my times up. Why? Time’s too precious. And I hate surprises. No, because I get nervous when something different is coming up that’s out of the norm. for me. So I couldn’t imagine knowing it and trying to get things done fast enough. Talk about panic attack 101

What are three "nevers" in your life?
Never liked cats. Never been in Love. Never owned Louis Vutton purse :(

If you could wake up tomorrow having required a new skill or trait what would it be?
That my hair is dead sexy every morning with no styling involved! That would be awesome don’t you think?

What book made you cry the most and why?
Believe it or not but never cried on a book. I think…though New Moon gave me a heart attack. Though come to think of it, I ALMOST cried at the End of Breaking Dawn because it was over!

Describe a memorable or funny experience you had on a date.
My whole dating life is a funny laugh out joke. Does that count?

If you could go back to any period in time and witness one event what would it be?
Oh tough one! Well….titanic has always fascinated me and for some reason I would have loved to have been on that boat or during the JFK years. I would have SO copied Jackie O and her style.

What do you think is the greatest invention to come along in your lifetime? Why is it important to you?
Greatest invention in my lifetime would be the Internet. That’s so dorky to say but it’s true. Think about…pretty much any info {all good} is at the reach of how fast your fingers can type.

What do you want that you don't have?
Are we talking material or Life wise? Material, ok probably a Dark Red 2009 Jetta. Life wise…A Family of my own.

If you had the chance to repeat one year of your life would you? When would it be and why?
Yes I would and repeat all of 2008. Why? Because it rocked.

What is a motto you live by? Explain.
I honestly don’t have a life motto. I’m the kind of girl who is a bit skeptical at things and so with that, I don’t make yearly plans or resolutions or life mottos because if I didn’t fulfill them I would feel REALLY bad and down on myself. I take things day by day and moments to look forward to. And just do the best that I can do.

How do you feel about questions like these?
I answered them didn’t I? No, really though I did this because it was a different set of questions then your normal “what’s your favorite color?” questions
I like thinking at odd questions. There intriguing and I’m nosy. Perfect match!

Wedding Reception

Over the span of the last two year my months filled up with lot's wedding receptions to attend. Sometimes I wonder if my boss thinks I'm just lie-ing to get a day off! Hah! What a joke, my memory box is full of wedding invitations and so with the New year it kicked off with yet ANOTHER wedding reception to attend to. Now, don't get me wrong...I LOVE going to wedding receptions. Yep, LOVE IT! I guess you could say I'm kinda like that girl from 27 dresses who actually "likes" going to them. As for me being a bridesmaid, the count is up to four. Four dresses in a spare closet LOL. At least I caught the bouquet at the last one! Any who, so last night-- Friday, I again took the day off and went to a friend of mine-- whom I've known all through my YW years at church--wedding reception. I went with Kristy, Amber, my Aunt Carolyn, and of course baby Levi.

The reception was at the beautiful Carnegie Hotel and it's simply stunning with all the dark woods in the Ballroom with giant pillars. The Men's lounge which was right off the side door, was where the buffet was at. The whole hotel is done in the style of the titanic ballroom. Loved it! The brides family did a wonderful job because everything was lovely. The food was great. The company was terrific. And best of all...the bathrooms in which we all thought was just super LOL We all took turns going to the bathroom where each stall had its own private door and when you washed your hands, you received a towel instead of a napkin! I think we can safely say we gave the bathroom 5 stars!

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures with the Bride & Groom! Between us three girls getting a kick out of discussing the wedding-ness of it all and slightly maybe gossiping...Ok probably that was all ME BUT we had a great time and I did mange to avoid the dreaded bouquet toss by hiding behind a large pillar--true story--.

Christmas 2008

Christmas this year turned out to be better then what I expected. I’m going to get a little personal here and admit that this Christmas was really hard for us financially. And I’ll even admit that many nights were spent crying and worrying over the fact that it just wasn’t going to be the same. But, as the days got closer and still nothing new to come our way a VERY sincere and heartfelt friend offered up the best words of comfort and direction anyone had given me. I shall never forget that phone call and she knows who she is. All I can say to her is that I will Pay it Forward.

This year by the time it was Christmas eve it was about forgetting what you looked like on camera and dancing with my cousins while being filmed. Seeing the excitement in my nephew’s eyes of preparing for Santa. Waking up and realizing you came through it and that it was ok that this Christmas wasn’t as big as we would have normally done it. Not to mention but even prevailing through with NO voice!

Christmas Decor 2008
Oh Christmas Tree...My theme every year is always the traditional ruby red and greens. With lot's of family picked ornaments. Theres even a Darth Vader ornament on there along with Scarlett and Rhett, Miss Piggy, Barbie, and pink Bears! But, don't tell Angelus..Darth got moved to the back HAHA!

My mantle is always my favorite to do. So of course it's no surprise that it matches the tree colors in ruby red berries and greenery. Along with my proud nutcrackers and sliver and gold reindeer's that are over 50 yrs. old.

My mamas coffee table she would threaten anyone who would lay a drink on it!

This is my Aunt Carolyns prized Nativity Set that means alot. It always goes in the dining room.

My kitchen theme is kinda Country Christmas with Snowman.
Don't look down Megan LOL
The color theme is also different from the rest of the house of hunter greens and dark berries with Burgundy.

Christmas Eve

Sorry not alot of pictures! To busy eating yummy food and dancing!!!
To my great last nerve, this was the best picture I could get of him standing still on Christmas Eve. He looks pretty peeved with me for taking his picture. Apparently, he had other plans on his agenda LOL Notice the Edward styled hairdo...Freakin AWESOME!

Ta-DA!!! We had just finished our rockin break dancing!

Christmas Morning! Santa came and of course had a traditional Patrick Family Christmas coke.

Every Christmas Eve for our family party we buy the Coca Cola glass bottle cokes. EVERYONE looks forward to this and even dear old Santa whose been receiving them for as long as I can remember gets at least two laid out every year! He ALWAYS leaves a Christmas card! As you can tell he prefers cokes then cookies when he stops at our house!

This is my FAVORITE picture this year. Santa was EXTREMELY good to Angelus. Now, I know that alot of you will see this picture and instantly judge because I stated earlier that this was a "humble" Christmas. Let me just say that first, it's no ones business on what we hold for our loved ones on Christmas and what Santa brings BUT let's just say that Santa is GREAT friends with Angeluses parents NOT me! Besides that note, to me this picture is just magical with the lights.

This is the end of the tour of pictures! I'm sad to announce that there are Two outrageously great videos I tried and TRIED to upload but for some unknown reason they just won't! So who knows... maybe sometime in the next few months the dancing Christmas videos will pop up and brighten your day.

2008 You Rocked!

Tonight as I have set looking at alot of other blogs the same thing keeps repeating. A bitter sweet farewell to 2008. For me, I too am feeling such a loss for this past year--- I hate saying that. 2008 holds so many moments that have meant something to me and have shaped me as a person. Sure, no year is perfect without trials and heartache. And of course there were moments when I wished 2008 would speed on by But as I was looking back these last few days, I found myself stubbornly heartbroken to say "Happy New Year".
2008 brought so many wonderful things and I will never forget them. I will carry that year with me always. So here's a look back on why I will consider 2008 as a "You Rocked" year.

1. Of Course I will start off with Twilight. Not only is it number one in my heart BUT I truly started 2008 back in January at Books A Million flipping through the pages of a shiny black book with an apple on it trying to decided if it was worth the purchase of using up my gift card. So very very little did I know just how important that 10.97 purchase would come to be apart of my life and 2008 year. LOL I even remember saying to myself walking to my car that if I didnt like it, I would just be careful with the cover binding and bring it back! To Twilight, Edward & Bella...Your love story will always be special to me. Not mention but you took up 93 % of my attention this year LOL

2. In the spring Angelus played T-Baseball and I cried at his first game. Yes...Thats right I CRIED! Lee--his Dad-- totally made fun of me for it as I was filming that important day But my nephew who is like my own is growing up and that day as we all said the pledge of allegiance and the little tike's in baseball caps and first gloves lined up to bat...my baby was among them and I realized that life moves on when your not even watching. I was so proud!

3. In June after his Pre-K graduation we left for our first family vacation in 3 years to Florida and disney world. I experienced that being in a car for 16 hours and two men--one 41 and the other 5--totally stinks...Litterally...Not to mention I fell in love with my IPOD all over again. Upon arrival I took up permanent residence by the massive pools and soaked up all the sun I could get. And then we made the day trip to the magic kingdom where I learned that the mouse in red actually has a day set aside for gay people LOL and thanking heavenly father I didnt wear red! It was the gay pride color for the day and I shall never say FABULOUS without thinking of that day.

4. The blogging block exploded this year with lots of new friends. My daily routine is getting up and going straight to my computer to peek in on your lives and I LOVE it! So many of you have brought friendships that have helped in so many ways. Your words inspire me and I feel so loved to see those who comment and care enough to see what randomness I'm into. Plus, some of my own dear friends who are most important to me started their own blogs and it too makes me just giddy knowing I can be nosy and see what you post.

5. Music. WOW! This year music has played such a HUGE part of my everyday to day minute that my soul could not survive with out it! 2008 I learned that Coldplay rules. That Jordin Sparks actually made two songs i went OCD over. Bleeding Love made me listen. Taylor Swift rocked with everysong on her CD. One Republic gave me chills. The Fray and Augustana made me think. And then finally...a band called "the MUSE" made me take notice.

6. TV. Haha! This is so funny to write but yep it's true...I'm not a TV watcher but what I did watch this year was so darn entertaining. First AI! Best season yet! The Bachelor...oooh that British dude was so hott! Jon & Kate plus eight...you just make me ache for a family of my own and a husband to boss around! One Tree Hill...you became my TV best friend! I didnt blink or miss a step every Monday night! Halle Freakin Lujah your coming back on Monday!

7. Visiting Teachers are so important and I can say I have one of the best! Not to mention but I totally got her hooked on twilight LOL But she has a testimony and a heart so kind that each visit was more then just a monthly check up...it was a friendship that kept building.

8. Breaking Dawn. Phew! So glad that wait is over and Bella freakin MARRIED EDWARD!!!! Not to mention but Ilse Esme....oh dear...now that...was some great reading!!!Take that you team Jacob playa's...sucka's!!!!!! That day, Aug. 2nd will go down in history as a hard fought battle! It took my car breaking down, losing my voucher, crying on the side of the road, august heat, and a stupid line of 250 people to get me to my copy of breaking dawn. Not to mention but having to stand in line and listen to a team Jacob girl crying hysterically behind me because she was a afraid she wouldnt get a copy...I was like...HECK NO i'm not giving you my spot fool!

9. Turning 23. I have such a hard time of realizing I'm actually over 21! When your younger or at least for me I never gave any thought to being passed 21! That night rocked again and it truly was so special to have so many friends and family there. not to mention but all the lovely birthday comments were all read and reread!

10. What could I possibly end with my number 10 spot...I bet you think it's Twilight...NOPE
my number 10 spot goes to all the friendships that have grown this year. Some people i've know for years while others just within this year but 2008 will be remembered for getting so close to so many beautiful people.

2008 I refuse to say Goodbye.
REFUSE! So I'm going to just say see you later...why that? Because the memories you hold will be revisited in my mind always.
Thank You for being a "You Rocked" year!
2009 you have BIG steps to fill. You are forewarned!

Here comes that Bride...

Oh, this news is just soOooooOooo exciting to me. For everyone who knows Carrie...Sergei Proposed! Sweetness! So here's Tierra in the car today passing the time headed toward work when she opens up her cell phone with a message from Carrie that says "Sergei proposed last night" I FLIP OUT! Why, oh Why didn't I look at my phone earlier???? I immediately hit speed dial 3 for Carrie and ask "Is it true???" And then proceed to squeal with Delight and ask for ALL details! Yes, yes, I'll get to the story but first just so you all know...Me & my family couldn't be happier with this news.

They have been dating for about 5 years now and I had just asked Sergei if he was ever going to pop that question. In which he shrugged it off and played it cool. Carrie is my little cousin by three years and she is all that embodies style, charm, intelligence, and sweetness. Totally your girl next door who goes to college to be a school teacher--which she is--I cant tell you how many times me & Carrie played bride when we were little. I'm just so happy for her!!!

As for Sergei...he's been with us for so long that he knows all the quirks, crazy aunts, and family challenges that we gladly welcome him with open arms. HaHa!

. The Story .

Sergei took Carrie up to Ohio to visit his family for the holidays. Last night-News Years Eve-They all went to Sergei's family church. He went up on stage and began to talk about all the things he was thankful for and talked about how on this trip he brought his girlfriend with him and asked her to come up on stage. Carrie had NO clue what he was doing and joined him on stage where he knelt down on one knee and pulled the ring out and asked her to marry him. She said she had no clue any of this was planned and doesn't remember saying yes but I'm pretty sure he got the answer. They have it all on video tape and I'm so excited to see it!

Congratulations Carrie & Sergei and can I just say...
IT'S ABOUT TIME!
