the weekend series

i just needed to blog tonight. nothing big or nothing amazing going on. just the simpleness of wanting to share my news. though be it ever so small it is. weekends for me are huge. when you work on a every-other- weekend-off-bases, you make the ones you have off, count.

for me, i like to make them count with family. simple house chores. shopping. grocery lists. maybe a movie. a new nail color. new recipes to try. and sometimes, a new weekend outfit. and now that it's spring, sitting outside and swinging from our old hanging wicker bench.

 ...................................................................................

this weekend brings to me a big event. my cousin carrie and her husband are having a sweet baby boy. their first.
so of course .....  *giggles* i have to give her a shower! with big families on both sides, a lot of plans, phone calls, and errands have been made. so wish me luck ladies, for tomorrow is a big day that shall start early!

what am I wearing?  oh of course you may ask!....go here and find out. i'm wearing it with a green cardigan, large pearl studs, and these darling wedges. carrie, the beautiful mom to be, shall be wearing this except in the light blue with stripes.

happy weekending! i'll save you some cheesecake .....(maybe)

weekend plans

i just needed to blog tonight. nothing big or nothing amazing going on. just the simpleness of wanting to share my news. though be it ever so small it is. weekends for me are huge. when you work on a every-other- weekend-off-bases, you make the ones you have off, count.

this weekend promises clear, sunny skies. 80 degree weather. and it's my weekend off. though allergies are trying to knock me down a step or two....they wont. i simply won't let them.

my plans include: organizing kitchen drawers & cooking utensils || making this new recipe || and buying this

what ever your weekend plans, I hope its a good one!

from seventeen to twenty six

tonight. i cried my eyes out.

the tv show one tree hill can always take me back to when i was 17teen years old. i can still see my self vividly sitting in the floor of my "then" brightly yellow painted  bed room, infront of my tv, and watching the very first episode. i remember the theme music and the weeks following being able to learn and sing along to its first notes of the gavin degraw song as the show would come on. rooting and falling in love with the Nathan and Hailey relationship. they were the typical good girl redeems the bad boy love story. and as the tv producer once said about the characters of Nathan & Hailey, "it was like watching lightning being catched in a bottle."

it was just that good.

i said goodbye tonight, as the tv show made its end for the 9th and final season.

9 years. 9 seasons.
again, it was like i was right back to that night in my bedroom. back to being 17teen. i saw myself and all the things i wanted to come next in my teenage/young adult years.

isnt it something, that a show. one tv show, can spark such a moment. a meaning.

tree hill does that for me. it takes me right back to my teenage years. to those feeling. those dreams. those hopes.

i come from a family where sports matter. and that was part of one tree hills charm. taking boys. these two  half brothers, who hated each other and putting then out on the basketball court in a game where you have to depend on your teammate and learn to become men & love each other.

and you know what, they did.

tonight, as the show started for the last time.....the line my favorite character states at the beginning says
" it's a story old as time, one minute your 17teen dreaming of someday and then suddenly, someday is now..."

i felt that line. because that really an truly is what one tree hill and growing up was about for me.
dreaming of things "someday" and now someday really and truly is now.

so thank you one tree hill.

thank you for being that show for me. for the memories of me racing home at night to watch you. to listening to the music you played in the episodes and connecting the songs to moments of my own life.

thank you for showing a tv show with characters that really showed what falling in love and staying in love is all about. thank you for showing what a sport can do for a young person preparing for the future.

and thank you, one tree hill....
for all those episodes of "lightning being catched in a bottle" moments ....
because they were just         that         good.

one tree hill. always & forever.
