Funk?

Have you ever been in a funk? Well, I am! My thoughts...church tomorrow. What to wear? I Have NOTHING to wear that I WANT to wear! Can I stay home? What kind of LAME person am I that wishes to stay home because her wardrobe doesn't suite her this week?!?!? Lame I tell ya, LAME! The Notebook is on. I watch a few minutes. The sighs, the OoOo's...love, YUCK! I'm going to be single FOREVER! I fight within my self...NO I MOST CERTAINLY AM NOT!

I go to my room. Any good books I haven't read in a while? Thousands!

Any that I want to reread?

NOPE!

See, I tell ya I'm in a funk.

Also, I've been craving sugar cookies...the good kind. The kind that the recipe calls for sour cream and a long process. But, do I want to actually make them? HECK NO! I wonder if I called my old YW president who made excellent ones and see if she'll mail me some? Probably not.

Funk I tell ya! I'm in a FUNK!

I walk over to the calendar on my refrigerator. It's my black & white one I'm in love with. I check the days ahead. Whens my period coming? The oh so NOT "friend" that my grandmother use to refer it as because she wouldn't dare say things like period or sex or PMS.

Why, lookie there I said them! Haha!

5 Days incoming. OH. GREAT. I'm. So. Thrilled. Cant you tell?

So really my funk = PMS.

The End.

Twilight Par-TAY!

Twilight Twilight Twilight! ! !
Hot Dang it is in Da-HOUSE! Yeah, Baby! ! ! Okay...Tierra doing her...{{{breathe}}} calm down voice LOL SO...Hi-dee Bloggers...As you know I had a Twilight Party! This week, I have worked my butt off for this party and I am SO HAPPY it was a success! The "Thank You's" are ENDLESS! First...Kristy, thank you for opening up your home and letting me have the party there. Amber F. for bringing those "oh so sinful" cookies...Do you have any left??? Stephanie thank you for doing the punch! I was so happy you came and I LOVED your T-shirt! And then THANK YOU to you all for coming. Christy & Allison, Jamie Burlette, Stephanie, Amber F. Kristy, Amber L. --Did you know Amber L. has a VAMPTASTIC twilight blog? Scroll down to my Stalking Avenue and hit Eyes of Amber. I swear, everyday...its all Twilight/New Moon news galore...LOVE it! ! ! Now, silly talkative me talked WAY to much at the beginning and didnt even think about getting pictures with everyone and the ones who wore their FABULOUS twilight shirts. BUT here is the whole set up. Enjoy!

The Invite. I wanted these to be eye catching the moment you pulled it out of its matching dark navy blue envelope. So this is the front side. What you cant tell, is that its really shiny! I wanted it to be a mini movie poster so I had them laminated to be really shiny!

Backside. Also laminated for shiny effect.

The Set Up. I went all out and found these damask plates/napkins. With my gorgeous pictures frames and twilight official photos for the center. I chose the one with Edward at the piano and my favorite prom scene with blue silk underneath.

{click to enlarge both pics and see the table better}

For food, it was movie night so pizza. Duh! Then for desert, I knew I wanted these extra sinful chocolate dipped strawberries prepared by me :)

Cherie...I did it! ! ! My bloggy friend Cherie had posted on her craft blog how to make these pin wheels. SO easy! With Double sided paper I made my self with twilight written all over on one side and my color scheme dark navy blue on the other.
{click to enlarge for better view} {I was so proud of myself}

Also, I cant forget Kristy's Husband Aaron who set up all of Kristy's twilight stuff just for the party! Aaron, that was so nice and it made the night for everyone to see! Thanks! ! ! Not to mention but Aaron graciously left and gave up his home for the evening!

I am a FIRM believer that all parties done by me, is a MUST to receive a treat bag for coming.
all the ladies went home with these cute little bags.

Inside I gave everyone a full Hershey chocolate bar with a new twilight wrapper! The second pic below the first shows the back of the candy bar. I thought Chocolate vs. twilight..."Can you resist temptation?"

Also, I am a big chap stick freak at work and I got to thinking that, I for one would LOVE to be rockin some twilight chap stick! So in the bag was a tube a chap stick with a twilight label made by yours truly saying "a taste of forbidden fruit"

After the movie was over and everyone was starting to leave, I realised I had NO photos with anyone! What the heck?!?! So I pulled Kristy-- my co-host and at least took a quick pic with her. I LOVE her! She is truly a Best friend. Not to mention but a Twilight-Edward Lovin- fanatic-Buddy!
{lookie there Edward is in all his stern hotness in the back! then stupid dead James at the bottom..that's right sucka your at the bottom HAHA!}

Thank You again everyone for coming! You made my "little" party VAMPTASTIC!

Get to Know Me :: Monday ::

Part Two :: The Color of Skin ::

For as long as I can remember, all my life people would ask me what my gentic background was.
I've been guessed at being asiaon, hispanic, chinese, hawwian...yada yada. But, no one has everhit it right on the nail.

So, when I first started thinking of what to do my part 2 for monday on...My first thoughts were to meet the parents. The two crazy that gave you dear, snooper, talkitive me! But then I thought, I wanted to do a post/write on an issue that in away has been a HUGE part of my life but yet a NON PART of my life subject. Race. The color of Skin.

To truly understand let me first state that I am 100% comfortable in my own skin. My race has never been an issue with me or have I ever had to deal with any racial issues until this past election.

When my parents started dating, there were some harsh feelings on my mothers completely white side of the family tree. My mother was already 33 at the time of her pregnancy with me and my grandmother whom I love/loved dearly had a very hard time coming around. Growing up I never new that, that backin the days of little tierra in the womb my moms family was just not ready--particuly my grandmother. I have never held this aganist my grandmother because for one my grandmother was born in 1922 and grew up her entire era when it was just not done. Mixing your race. Yes, it was done but was it excepted, No. And so to my grandmother, it was truly hard to understand. So lets fast forward to my grand entrance to this world. My skin color. White. -----------> Shock O-rama to the fam's on both sides.
Check out the picture below. It's one of my faves of my Dad and me at 5 months old. I love my Dad's Smile.

If you haven't guessed it my Dad is African American. My mom, an Irish redhead with extreme white skin who would practically toast herself in the sun just for a tan and die her hair blond. My mom was simply, the bomb.com that way LOL

For both sides of the family it was something to take in for sure that my skin was not as dark as they thought it would have been.
My mom always told me all my life that I was to always know that I was the way Heavenly Father wanted me to be. Skin color and all.

And for that, I have had the greatest honor of growing up with two completely different sides of cultures, foods, expressions, and skin colors. When I was younger it was harder to express to your friends the difference in things BUT the older I got and up till now, my life embraces both sides.

Through these two, I am who I am. A Bi-Racial American who is proud to say that she can come from both colors.

My mother always taught me to always remember who I was. To never be ashamed of skin color or even the colors of others. My traits from my mom & dad I like you to know this Monday is this.

From Mom who I was raised by---my parents went their separate ways after I was three--is the knowledge of the gospel. To read my scriptures daily and always put your shoulder to the wheel and push long. doing your duty in life with a heart full of song. To except others. To except myself. To dance crazy to music loudly at any chance you get. To go shopping for clothes and splurge once in while. To hear the music in everything. To make people feel comfortable and welcome in my home. and always always pray. I shall never forget the many many times of passing my moms bedroom door and seeing her kneel in prayer.

From my Dad comes the talking. I forewarn anyone who gets my Dad going. He's worse then me LOL From him I get most of my face outline...We look exactly alike in the face. Also I get my stubborness in life. To be independent. You'll probably never remember this part but I'm very independent...to the extreme and I have so much trouble in giving things over to other people to do. Just like my Dad. I'm friendly to the extreme just like my Dad. He will be friend anyone that will befriend him.

Now, I know this was long so brownie points for those who read this all the way through. To end...my Skin, I am who I am. Sometimes I think I got so chipped in the skin deal because it takes forever for me to tan and I get SO FREAKIN pale in the winter LOL

But for reals though, these two gave me life. I was born to goodly parents who have loved me in way that I shall never feel unloved. So now you know. Until next Monday-Chow!

Dear Future Hubby::St. Patricks Day Excuses::

Dear future...
to slow moving,
probably stopped to get a chili dog,
paying more attention to a sports game,
has his head stuck in a book,
forgot to set his alarm,
dating the WRONG person,
hopefully NOT stuck on a farm,
better not be chasing a blonde,
Needs to be thinking of Tennessee,
looking for love in all the WRONG places,
heard I fell in love with Edward first,
starting to get lame,
probably stuck in a toilet,
better not have went to Europe without me,
has a terrible sense in direction,
too stubborn to pray for the right direction….HUBBY.

Today is St. Patrick’s Day. Just thought I’d drop you a note an let you know that A} this is the day were getting married on and B} I have it all decided and C} YOUR LATE!

If any of these above excuses apply to the matter of your tardy-ness…Consider this your first,
“I may still love you BUT I don’t have to like you” Tierra walk away moments.
That is all.
Yours Truly, Tierra.

PS.
I am NOT wishing you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I AM however wishing all my family, friends and bloggy loveys a Luck of the Irish, St. Patrick’s Day blessing.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Get to Know Me :: Monday ::

YowwwwZa look at those legs! Lately, I've been brain storming --something you should always be careful with, when around me LOL--And I wanted to do something to where on my blog, it would be noting some memories & thoughts but also allow you to get to know me better.
Hence "Get to know Me Monday" brilliant right? Don't answer that :)

Have you ever wondered what is people's take on you, that they see from your blog?

After all it is your-this ones mine--blog. So therefore it shows who you are. Your likes,your family, your interest ...yada yada and so forth.

I hope that you all see this...Me...for what it is. Just a single gal livin a southern life searchin for that sweet talkin, to slow moving, southern man.

And Everything else in between LOL

So every Monday or so *I may not be perfect at this* I plan on sharing alittle about myself that I would like for you to get to know. To see. That way, to whatever blog summarizing you give mine, I've at least had my say. HAHA!

To kick off, I found these the other day going through photos and couldn't think of a better way to sum me up then these two killer photos of me.

High Heels, Lip stick, & dreaming of being a mommy. Oh, and rockin the care bear undies! Yeah baby! ! ! Jealouuuusssssss.

All my life shoes have sang to me. Yes, I do mean S. I. N. G, sing! They are truly this girls best best friend. For as LONG as I can remember getting out my moms, aunts, high heel shoes was apart of my everyday agenda since the beginning of my time. Oh and check this out... I have this goal, that when ever I leave this earth, I always yell and remind my cousins & aunts that the casket better be opened all the way to show off my shoes. No joke!

BUT most importantly, I dream of being a mommy. ALWAYS growing up I was playing mommy & baby. My own mommy would buy me real diapers and bottles to play with. LOVED IT! To me, to be able to have a chance of having a baby is a pure gift from Heavenly Father and one that I look *UP MOST* forward in doing. Sometimes, I'll be honest and say that it is hard at church to see all of my dear friends get to have this chance while I have to wait and just play on the sidelines.

BUT Having my nephew though is truly the best part of my life. Raising a child and teaching it about all the good things in this life is my hearts desire. And not all the shoes in this world could full fill it. Except for maybe a pair of Jimmy Choo Shoes...JUST KIDDING! ! !

"If I were asked to name the Worlds greatest need, I should say unhesitatingly wise Mothers;

OH. MY. SEXY-NESS.

I will be buying my first GQ magazine. As for the rest...Shut up Tierra and let the picture do the talking. This is all.

It's ALL about the Men

Last night my sisterinlaw came over and we watched American Idol. Oh my ladies....I had an awesome night. First off because it was Michael Jackson night! I LOVE Michael Jackson and I'm not ashamed to admit this. His music is something I've always listened to and it always rocks my world! So I'm gonna skip the crap of Tierra talking about blah blah "Oh I swooned" talk and just get to the juice. The men! Whooo-HOO! This year, again it's all about the men for me. My top three who I'm not really sure who I love the most....All three voices just does something to me in diffrent ways. -------------> Did I just say that? Yep I did! LOL

**The Men** in NO order yet. Still undecided.

This Guy, Matt Giraud... OH. MY. STARS. With his lips trembling while he sang that song. SEXY. His voice just hits me so sultry and this is already on my IPOD. LOVE him! LOVE LOVE LOVE this performance!
{side note: i have this performance on the IPOD and i've watched it all day. When it gets to 2:03 time...that whole voice tremble...Oh my!}

Next up would be Danny Gokey. Oh. Word. This guy can SINNNNNGGGG! He's got that raspy bluesy hits you in the gut voice that i just adore. Not to mention but with my new hairdo, I can bounce my head real sweeeeeeet to this song LOL Just LOVED that it was Michael Jackson night!

Last but majorly not considered least is Adam Lambert. Okay me and my SIL was like first...DANG HE'S HOTT with those eyes and hair. But, then we were like "PLEASE DON'T BE GAY!?!" We were a hoot to watch this night! He has such energy and this was not a fave Michael Jackson song for me but i was rockin out to it anyway just because of his high formed performance. Those notes he hit?!?!?

This is going to be a great year on Idol and I for one am pretty dang excited. Don't call me on Tuesdays!

A Messed UP Monday!!

Today started out just lovely. Again, Mr. Spring Sunshine gave us a beautiful day. And so as your dear Tierra started off her day by checking her email, her aunt Carolyn was cleaning out the refrigerator. And the conversation went like this.

Carolyn: {cleaning her little heart out} ...."Tierra, when did twilight get cancelled?"
Tierra: {not paying attention, reading an email} ...."um, what did you say?"
Carolyn: "I said, when did twilight get cancelled?"
Tierra: {full attention now} "WHAT!?! Why would it be cancelled?"
Carolyn: "Well, you have it marked on the calendar with cancelled written underneath."
Tierra: {jumps from her chair} {looks at calendar} .............. {silence}
Tierra: {said in a very LOUD voice} LEE SHOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The now much hated turd-of-a-jerk in the above first picture
WAS my so called much loved oldest cousin who is like an older brother to me is now in the dog house. Actually, I'll call it the crap house because he will be payed back for this!

Then, as the day went on, me and my aunt went to the USE to be loved Wal-mart for some grocery shopping. As usual, I had to go over to the fabric section and pick out material for my Easter/spring table runner and table cloth I'm making.

As the lady was cutting my ever so charming fabric,
another messed up conversation began to take place.

Wal-mart Fabric Lady: "It's a good thing you're buying this today because everything is 50% off."
Tierra: "Oh really. How lucky!"
Wal-MartFabric Lady: "Yes. Very lucky because once everything is gone that will be that."
Tierra: "What do you mean everything will be gone?" {starting to worry}
Wal-Mart Fabric Lady: "Wal-Marts are doing away with all their fabric sections in this area."
Tierra: "WHAT!!!! NO WAY! WHY? OH GOOD GRIEF!!!!!! Please tell me your kidding?
Wal-Mart Fabric-ruins my day- Lady: "I'm afraid not.
Everything you see is 50% off until its all gone. All cuts final.
Tierra: {stunned}......................
Wal-Mart Fabric Lady: "Once word gets out everything is going to be a bit crazy
So if you see any fabric you like I suggest you buy it as soon as possible.
Tierra: "This is just a fine mess" "Wait till I call Amber" {I muttered to myself}

So, to end this messed up sad post, here is the picture of the fabric i bought today. At least I got it all for under $8 bucks! Tomorrow I'm heading back to just find whatever I think I might like to use in the near future.

Hey Wal-Mart....You SUCK!

Baby Shower Bring May Flowers???

This Saturday was our first beautiful, bright, & sunny day. It was just so lovely that it did wonders for the soul. Truly. So, what better way then to celebrate with a baby shower, right? My best friend Jenny S. is having her first baby. A little boy to be named Jackson. Jenny and I have had so many late night phone calls, dreaming away the time when we would become mothers. With each new birth and a new baby to cuddle and make giggle at church, i count myself very blessed to be a woman and be able to "hopefully" be a mother of my own someday. Babies are such a blessing. They have the most purest sweet souls that they just smell heaven sent. Well, not all the time...lol and i love it when we can wel-come a new one in. So, as to actually getting back into blogging, enjoy the pictures from this Saturday at Jenny-loo's {nickname for her from me} first baby shower with a real preggo bump :)

M.I.A. :: Long but read Me ::

{please excuse ALL lack of commenting and posting.
i truly feel bad but please read this an understand.
i will get to every ones post and comment as much as i can.
know that i am truly missing you}

WHY. am I M.I.A? Well loveys, you don't know just how sad I am to be missing in action. As you have probably noticed, I have been rarely posting. This pains me more then it pains you. TRUE STORY! You see, I love my blog. Be it ever so humble, It's still mine and the person that I am, LIKES to post. LOVES it. Sometimes I do go through my blogging funk where I think my creative blogging juices have all been used up. But, for this week and for this month, I HAVE LOTS of posting ideas and actual posts NEEDING to be posted. But, here's the thing. First, Tierra is the type that likes to have a real reason for a post. It really is my number one rule. I cant stand to post about little random things even though we all know Tierra can be random. But, I just feel my blog "looks" more inviting and fun to read and journal worthy if it has a good, creative reason or family/life event to blog about. Second, I like to take the time to make it look good. The post I mean. Sometimes my posts take up to three hours just arranging photos and retyping and such.

But, fellow bloggers this week has just been cram-packed with stuff and will probably get more cram-packed as the months go by. So here are my reasons, excuses, etc etc etc

Carrie's Wedding. Carrie for all who don't know her is my little cousin by three years. I love her like a sister. As all my girl cousins, were all very close. So for her big day, is a BIG deal to me. I opted to not be a bridesmaid {been there done that} to simply be the proud cousin/wedding planner. Just today, I spent all day today and this past Tuesday in Kingsport City with her going to dress appointments and Florist Appointment. The Appointments will just keep on coming and I need to be at all of them. I will BE at all of them. The wedding will be August 1st of this year in a semi-formal evening event.
Next we have cousin number 2. Alexa. Did I mention she's way important too and her wedding is two weeks after Carries? Yeah...Um....BUSY!

And then finally I work at the hospital here in my hometown. So I work almost every day and have not had a weekend off in 4 weeks. YIKES! But so typical for the whole hospital. We're in a freeze zone due to the economy and cant except any one new. Each shift is 4 people down.

What I do is called a Nutrition Tech. I help delivery meals and assist the dietitians on there rounds and keep up with calorie counts and make sure patients don't order what their not suppose to have and keep up with the dietitians notes. Basically I WALK all day long and go in an average of a 130 rooms per day. I've seen just about every thing you can see in a hospital and have developed quite the poker face to not offend.

So, loveys this is the reasons why my poor poor blog has suffered. Even now As I write this I need to go to bed because I have a baby shower to get ready for that I've helped plan and pick a cake up at 9:30 am on a freakin SATURDAY!

i PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE to do better next week. I NEED to blog. Not just for you but for me. So with all this i bid you a sweet farewell. And leave you with a shocker news story....

I had my hair cut again today and it's all the way up past my chin! Report: LOVING IT!

Recall. Recap.

I figured I needed to document a few note worthy news for the bloggity blog. This is what I consider a "filler"post. Not really that big but needed to "fill" in some time between my two planned post for this coming week. So of course, I ask you a lovely plea to check back later.

Recap Number One-

Tierra at Belks Department Store. These two lovelys sang me a sweet melody. On sale for just $4. oo a piece, SOLD! Sweet deal and their my new two FAVORITE pieces to wear.

Recap Number 2-
Cousin Carrie who got engaged this News Years Eve, decided to move her wedding date up to THIS year. Of course I'm the wedding planner. Any one who knows me, knows I live to plan and I plan to live LOL Tomorrow will start our rush on all things wedding-ness shopping and planning. LOVE IT ALL!

Recap Number 3-
For my last and probably most note worthy news, I received a new calling at church. For those not of my faith, Our Bishopric we have in each ward extend a calling to worthy adult members to take on a responsibility in our different activity areas and age groups. Such like a Sunday school teacher or be a counselor to serve on committee for women or men and such. We have lots of different areas and the bishopric, with the guidance of counsel and prayer pick different adults best to serve in all the different areas.

With out further wait, I'm the new Girls rep in my ward for the Single adults. Anyone got any GREAT ideas for activities?

the return. the results. the standby.

thank you is two simple words that go such a great distance. they can save you. they can heal you. they can bless you. and this week. they have been said alot. as for my aunt, she is better. not great. not healed. but better. she came home this friday and was ready to kiss the floor. then she said if she did, she wasnt sure if she could get back up. i'm giggling at that. what a dear she is to me. as for the results, they all came back negative. but yet in all honesty besides no more heart pains, she still feels pretty bad at times and was still unable to go to church this morning. so will keep praying and continue the antibiotics so they can do there tricks. i cant tell you how sweet it was to come home or well actually wake up to all your most heartfelt and appreciated comments. while in the hospital carolyn was showered with friendly visits from lovely friends. thank you for coming. leah, the 2 liter coke bottle made her night. and the mcdreamy card made mine. to bad it wasnt mcsteamy or edward. amber, the chocolate no longer exists so that tells you it was much appreciated. since friday of our return home we have been spoiled by FANTASTIC dinners from ladies/friends of our church. kristy, i need the recipe to that chicken. we gave if four stars. and last but not least in anyway, thank you jenny b. for coming straightway on wednesday and banging on my front door to wake me up and be my personal venting listener.

so at the end of this week, i say thank you. at the end of every day i say thank you. as for now, i'm fine. we're fine. again, this blog means so so so much to me. so for this week, i'm back. march has some pretty dang exciting stuff coming up. thank you again to all you lovelys.
for you truly are, lovely.
