Dancing? Deverl!!!

22

Ok. I'm sure most of you ladies in the church have seen the movie "Single Ward" thats been out for some time now! And Ive come to the conclusion that every stake has their very own Deverl! You know, NOT so good Deverl! The guy that likes to ask every girl to dance and trys to make the spiritual, marry you right now move. Oh and let's not forget those dear sweet pick up lines like...."I knew our stakes were joined together tonight for a special reason...To see you" WRONG! WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! Phew! Let me back up. So this weekend was truly eventful! Now that Arie is back we wanted to keep her busy so she agreed to come with us to a regional two stake dance this past Saturday in Knoxville. It s two hour drive and we decided to make it a road trip w/ just the girls.
The ride there was a blast! We talked and laughed and discussed Breaking Dawn even though Arie has NO clue what were talking about but Anyway...We kinda got lost and ended up in the getto BUT we Mormon girls are easily entertained so we decided to just go w/ the flow and skip the activity and head for dinner and then go to the dance. Along the way we saw this church head sign w/ these truly inspiring words to live by.

So let's skip ahead to the dance! It's your typical setting...the cultural hall...lights slightly off...chairs along the wall...church water & cookies to one side...Christmas lights hung along the stage to set the mood...So here I am, things have just started and the dj kicks if off with the cha cha slide. Typical. I return to my seat to chat for abit as I start to entertain myself and count how many guys are coming in...17...18..Wow lets see if we make it to twenty...19..20..BINGO..21...22...23.. Well at least this might be going somewhere! Somewhere after 25 I gave up. We had at least achieved a 30 something guy ratio So the night was looking hopeful to at least dancing w/ a few new guys to pass the time away. And then that's when it happened. My friend whom will call H. turned sharply toward the door and grabbed my hand and said....'Oh crap. Ladies. Look...At...The Door...We all turn and to my horror of horrors the one guy I had completely forgotten about is strutting into the gym. Our very own Deverl. AWWWWWWW RUN LADIES RUN! We all jump at once and everyone takes off in different directions. I decide to make a dash out the side door leading to the kitchen and hall way! WHY OH WHY do we have to have SO many darn doors that lead to the hallways from the GYM????

And WHY OH HEAVENS NAME WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE ME THAT GOT CAUGHT!

Yep, you guessed it... the door he took lead to the hallway I was in. So what does your typical normal caught in-a-trap girl do? Lie. Lie. Lie. LIE! Oh and I jumped or more like flew to the girls bathroom. When I came out I then found the first guy I came to--seriously--asked him to dance and thus proceeded my night. Along w/ everyone else. I wonder if the reason we have a Deverl is so the Lords makes it that way so we meet all kinds of new people and not just sit on the side lines?I can honestly say I danced just about every dance! Everytime he would come within inches from me I would grab the nearest guy I saw. A BIG HUGE heartfelt thanks to all the willing guys we ALL danced with at the drop of a moment to save us from being glued to our Deverl for the 3 hours of the dance. Needless to say it was a entertaining night!

Home. Arie. Good.

Welcome Home Hermana Tyhurst! One of my truly best friends whom I've been buddies with since nursery stage at church--Ariel--Came home from serving an 18 month mission for our church in the Argentina, Buenos Aires Mission! I am so proud of her and have missed her terribly! So, this past Friday my friend Kirstie and I rushed to her home and took her out for her first date! Lunch! It was so good to see her AND to actually talk to her in person. She looks just the same and it really just picked up where we left off! We took her out for Mexican and surprisingly she hasn't had any Mexican food at all! In Argentina they mainly eat lots of pasta and spin offs of Italian food! She's doing good and were just trying to keep her busy! Good to have you home Arie SO let's get down to business and see what were going to do for the next stage in our life! It still shocks me to think were in our twenties! Time on this earth just keeps on going! But, I still think we need to have a slumber party, your never to old for that!

Hit Song?

So, today I was on somebody's blog that I have NO clue who they are {blog stalking-We all do it} And I saw this and thought this was just to funny to pass up! So I ask you, What was the number 1 Song on the Billboard Charts when you were born? Mine was kinda a bummer, but hey...What the heck it's still to funny to pass up.

On November _ 1985 the number 1 billboard song was : "Miami Vice Theme" by Jan Hammer. Ok, SoOo my first thought was...Aw..Heck what a let down! But, now I think that's just my luck! To find the number 1 song hit on the day you were born go here: http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/SelectMonth.htm

I'll be looking to see who does this and what your song is! Come on ladies, how can you beat Miami Vice? What can I say....I'm just too COOL!

Tagging By Fours

I saw this on Ann's Blog a few weeks back and I thought I would do it. I really don't mind tagging because I'm nosy and I always like to hear what other people have to share.
Tagging by Fours, Tierra Style.

Four {4} Places I go Over & Over:

  • If It's Paper. This store is a dream come true to a girl who loves anything that contains all paper products and party planning. I'm a great customer!
  • B. Dalton/Books A Million. To me, one of my favorite smells is a bookstore. On days off with no where to go, I stroll for at least two hours w/ my cup of steamed milk & Irish cream.
  • Wal-Mart. It's Southern Thing.
  • Hobby Lobby/ Michael's. These places help feed my baby projects. It's another dream store.

Four {4} People I Admire:

  • My Aunt Carolyn. I do not know of anyone else whose light could out shine hers. As long as she's with me, it's home.
  • President Monson. I stand alittle taller each day knowing we have his guidance.
  • Amber Finch. There's a quote that states by Pres. David O McKay that the world needs more exemplary mothers. To add to that, the world needs more women like Amber. Shes a great friend and a wonderful mother. If only I had her outlook and temperament, I would be a much better person.
  • Jackie Kennedy Onassis. I know this is a stretch but I've always admired reading about her. She wasn't perfect But yet she possessed a grace and dignity that very few women have these days or show for that matter. If I could reflect in some way in my personage by a figure from this country, I hope it would be of her. Her style, integrity and charm is what was so captivating.

Four {4} Places I'd Rather Be:

  • The Beach. Summer is coming to a close and for the past few days my mind as been drifting to the ocean. Sand. Water. Shopping. Seashells. Bliss.
  • A bookstore. “We read to know we are not alone.” C.S. Lewis
  • A guest at Edwards & Bella's Wedding! Ok, I know this is fictional but I'm pretty sure if it was real it would have been the best wedding I had ever seen.It was however the best wedding scene I've read. Plus, it would have been the first wedding I probably would have cried at. I could have gotten really dressed up and maybe Even stole a dance w/ Edward while Bella was talking to Jacob. Ann, we would have had to go together! Plus, I have a confession Ann, I wasn't on the wolf side as you know but if we could go I would have wanted to talk with Seth, he was such a sweetie and I think I had a small crush on him since Edward was taken!
  • At Leah's house doing a craft. Preferably my Home sign for the kitchen! Any chance I get to come to your home Leah I always "TRY" to take! I think we should start a monthly craft night! What do you say?

Four {4} Movies I Adore:

  • Pride & Prejudice. I could watch this movie from start/finish anytime. Mr. Darcy & Edward...Can/May you be real?
  • Sense & Sensibility. Again Jane Austin freak here but Really I think sometimes I was meant for another era. I think in all the Jane Austin heroines I relate to the eldest sister Eleanor the best.
  • The Magic of Ordinary Days. This is a hallmark movie that came on CBS one night and I fell in love with it. It's a sweet tale about the WW2 era of a marriage convenience story and discorvering love in the simple magic of ordinary moments.
  • The Notebook. Classic.

Four {4} Favorite Repeat Songs on the IPOD/CD's

  • Falling Away With You-Muse. I wanna find someone to fall away with!
  • Fearless-Taylor Swift. LOVE. LOVE that girl. This song is typical wish for the perfect date song. And dancing in the middle of no where. I'm a sappy girl!
  • More The Anyone-Gavin Degraw. Every Girl wants to that "More" to someone.
  • Far Away-Nickel Back. I play this one the most for some reason. Even I'm not a huge fan of nickel back, the emotions in this song are like a moment for my life.

Four {4} Places to Eat:

  • Motos Jap. House
  • Red Lobster
  • Chic F'ley
  • O'Charlies

I tag Leah, Heather, & Carrie. It's the only way I can get Carrie to update her blog-Wink! Have Fun. As of now 2 post in one day. I don't think I got anything accomplished around my house. Oops!

Kitchen Redesign

Project Time. Ever Since my mom passed away I have been reluctant to fully take over my kitchen and put my own personal touch to it. Even though when she was alive I was constantly changing things but the main decor in the kitchen was still from her. Now, it's been alittle over a year and I'm starting to fill the urge to make the big changes.

So for yours and my entertainment I'm posting what my next project will be. Me and my projects! My visiting teacher Sis. Lindsey is always asking if I ever take a break! Nope! I've just always been one of those people who thrive on organizing or planning something. So, sorry mama but the Apples and the roosters just HAVE to come down! I can tell you right now if she was here we would be having a "intense" discussion on what would be her wants and my wants followed by me pouting. Since I'm pretty sure that a phone call wont reach her at the moment, She 'll just have to understand and except the fact that the call was too long a distance!

Starting next week, the painting process! If you really know me, then you know that I have HORRIBLE curse w/ paint colors. In others words I always pick a color and hate it after it's up. My room last year was 5 colors! And if it weren't for the fact that my dad would kill me, I'd still have him re due the color again! So help me out ladies, I want something between a dark beige and a light brown dust color.

I've chosen the samples to build my idea for the window treatments.

The whole inspirations comes from this sign here. I've always loved it and I've been looking for it everywhere! Leah, Any idea on how to make it? Help! Plus, I'm a sucker for plates, so the main dinner plates I bought at Target will be a focal point for one wall in the kitchen.

I'm not redoing our cabinets but to spruce them up a bit I'm re changing all handles. This one is not the exact one we bought but it's really close. The only difference is the gold part is not as shiny.

Everything else is the little touches I'm adding. So wish me luck every one and if I can get the paint color over and done with and actually fully approve once its on, the hard part will be over. I'll start posting the finally process. After that.

Mystery Title. Read Please.

Before I announce the “title” of this next post, Let me warn you that what I’m about to post was STRICTLY DONE WITH GOOD TASTE! In other words…My mother would approve. Actually she probably would’ve wanted to come--HaHa! I’m sure I’ve got your attention now…Haven’t I???? Ok, So here goes…
A Few months ago a dear friend of mine whom will call L. invited me to a party she was hosting at her home. It took place last Saturday. The theme/title for this party was….
{here goes, I’m going to say it…Nobody pass out or think Tierra needs a trip to the bishops office-though I could just imagine his EYES on this one}

A Sex Bucket Party! AWwWw……!!!! Alright ladies, have you stopped saying “WHAT!!!” yet? Keep Reading. I like to think of it as sorta a Bachlorette Party, Mormon girl style! In other words Paris Hilton or Brittney Spears would think were lame. Oh well.
To sum it up, here’s the note attached to the invite from L. herself….

Hey girls. =) A few weeks ago some of us got together and had a little sex education for our friend who is soon to be married. (it was a good discussion, tastefully done) During this time someone mentioned her husband and her have a "sex bucket" that they keep next to their bed. We all said "SEX BUCKET, WHAT ON EARTH??" But she explained it is used to keep all of their stuff. We then all wanted our very own bucket too. We were going to give our soon to be married friend her very own "sex bucket" party, but then I thought we all could use buckets. So we decided to have a party for everyone.
This is how it will work: If there are five people attending, you will buy your favorite bucket item five times. One for each girl. (don't forget to buy one for yourself too) In return each girl will do the same and you will receive five gifts from each of them. In one night we will have lots of fun stuff to put in our buckets. Please keep it tasteful........NOTHING GROSS PLEASE.
Some examples could include: lotions, creams, games, paints, etc. Please keep each gift at about $5.

I’m sure your all thinking…"But wait a minute, Tierra! Your not MARRIED!"
Yep, that’s what I said to L. But she insisted and so…Me, little miss not married is the proud owner of her very own sex bucket for future use. And I mean FUTURE USE. Oh I would just love to see the faces on some of you right now! Natalie, Nicole, Kathy, Deb…

That night I had a wonderful time. L. you did a FANTASTIC job! We had dinner, 2 rounds of drinks {virgin style} with the best homemade Mexican food ever. Again, L. I commend you on your cooking skills. Amber, WOW you’re skills on making the drinks were FABULOUS.

So whats in Tierra's Bucket? Hmm...to tell....to tell? That is the question!
Some favorite items...
* Husband/Wife date Jar.
It's filled w/ lots of date ideas for him/her to choose from.
* Happly Ever After lines to get that lovin feeling!
* A Feather Tickler

As for the rest...Let just say....
Dear future Hubby, It's me again. You know...Your future wife whose been waiting, an waiting, an waiting...Oh oops. Moving on! Just to let you know, I already have some prepared "storage" for us. I'm pretty sure your gonna like it. Love, Me.

PS. Send your Thanks to L. xoxox. Me.

Series of Events

08.07.08
As promised here is a peek in what I was up to this past week! On Thursday, Some of us girlies got together and went out to eat and then saw the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 movie.
As for the night, I had a GREAT time! We all need alittle girls night out once in while and I for one REALLY needed it! The food was great, the sisterhood of "us" was great and as for the movie...Well, I'd really like to tell ya that I loved it and it's soOo going in my vault of chic~flicks BUT it just didn't really excite me as the first one did. SPOILER* Lena & Costas do get back together, But it took the whole darn movie! To me the movie just skipped around alot and gave ya little bit into each one of the girls life and then would move on really quickly without REALLY going into the true feelings of each of the girls. I think over all there was just so much to cover
--for those who don't know, this is a book series and this movie was focusing on the last two books--that they just didn't have enough time to really get into what was happening. Would I watch it again? Sure, if someone wants to buy it an bring it over! Would I buy it? Sorry, Nope!
Over all between a C+ or a B- rating.

Side Note: When we were all in the theater waiting for the movie to start, the previews were on and it got REALLY --and I mean REALLY quiet for some reason. And then the music for the Twilight movie came on an all you heard was my HUGE gasp!!!! It was So funny! It was the first time I had seen the trailer on the big screen and everyone was trying to get me to be quiet! What can I say? I'm a Freak!

08.08.08
This day really was just awesome! I went on a date! Don't ya just love Friday night Dates? I don't know about some of you ladies BUT I got to spend a date with not 1 but 2 VERY handsome young men. All day at work I kept thinking..."Now what am I going to do this evening?" So when I got off, luck was on my side and had the pleasure of going back to the movies to see the new Mummy 3 movie that just came out with my little nephew and cousin Tanner. Now note to all you little girls out there that are calling Tanner already {Not to mention the little girls in my nephews kindergarten class} HANDS OFF! Leave them alone you silly little girls cause in my opinion...YOUR ALL JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH OR WILL BE! We had so so so much fun and I loved every minute of it! It's not every Friday that a girl gets fought over between who gets to sit next to you! We went all out! Even though movie and food prices are ridiculously stupid and high; We loaded up w/ drinks, Huge popcorn and of course CHOCOLATE! My dates held the door for me, sang LOUDLY in the car w/ me and even was asking if I was getting scared!
Tanner and Angelus I love you both dearly! Thanks for a terrific, fantastic, wonderful night! Plus the movie was awesome as well! Loved it better then the Mummy 2!

08.09.08
Next up, the Saturday was followed by going to WetLands Water Park! I went down their huge adult water slide at least 6 times...I think? My nephew started back to school today so this past Saturday we wanted to take him some place special for his last day of summer! He had so much fun and I love watching him smile. Not mention again BUT seriously I have the hottest little stud of a nephew around! The only downer was that I didn't have my Tanner w/ me! Me and Tanner just could not get along for the longest time and don't get me wrong, he can still be alittle pain {like most normal boy cousins} But now that he's 12 he's growing up and loves to hang out w/ me! He had Baseball practice so he missed out BUT was dearly missed! Summer fun has been great this year! Sun, Tan, Pools, Hamburgers...That's all we did that day.

Last week seemed to be the longest week EVER! I'm happy to report that I'm alive and well. So please all bear with me for I have lots to tell. Starting tonight after work all postings will start with a series of little things that have been happening {all good} I'm currently working on my Breaking Dawn review which has been a HUGE part of my life this last week. So again please bear with me and I promise not to go missing! Though I would just like to note that if I should ever go missing, I hope you guys--Leah--would make my missing poster add really cute like this one!
